NHS braces
At Aberdeen Orthodontics, we provide both private and NHS orthodontic care for eligible patients. While most of our NHS patients are referred by their dentist, we’re also happy to see individuals who reach out to us directly.

NHS eligibility
NHS orthodontic treatment is governed by strict government guidelines. To qualify, patients must be under 18 and require braces for medical—not cosmetic—reasons. Typically, those with significant crowding, protruding, or impacted teeth may be eligible.
Eligibility is assessed using the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN), which scores the severity of each case. Only those who meet or exceed the required score can receive treatment through the NHS.

Private patients
If your child doesn't meet the NHS funding criteria, or if they prefer clear braces or Invisalign® clear aligners, we can still provide treatment as a private patient. We offer flexible payment plans, affordable financing options, and a wide range of personalised orthodontic treatments.

Save your spot today
As a specialist practice, we have a limited number of NHS treatment spaces available each year, which can result in a waiting list. If you think your child may be eligible for NHS care, we recommend booking an appointment as soon as possible to reserve the next available slot.
